Coke in a can

If you're like Emily, you'll like this deal.

Coke products: Buy 4 12 packs (sale of 4 for $10.00) @ Albertsons with card, and get an instant $2 off. For a final tally of 4 for $8.

If you're a can person, this is about as good a deal as you can get in California.

Footlocker back on sale!

If you missed out last time, Footlocker, Champs and Footaction have their Friends and Family sale again.

30% at Footlocker
30% at Champs
30% at Footaction

Get your carrots!

Til 8/30, Safeway has baby carrots for $1 a bag (I believe that's 1lb). Much better than their usual price of somewhere around $2.

Go and see clearly!

An Old Deal

This deal has been around for a while, but how can you beat Free Land!"

Best DVD place

As Pokey claims, the place I buy the most DVDs from is Deep Discount DVD. With free shipping, no tax, and a low price guarantee, how can you beat it? Well, I actually don't buy it at those rates. I wait til the semiannual 20% off sale comes around. Then it's splurging time. Airwolf! Knight Rider! Transformers!

Anyway, they don't have the 20% off sale going right now, but they do have a HUGE discount on some campy 80s/90s TV shows.

I am quite tempted to buy Sledge Hammer. That show was so bad. But of course, that makes it good. =)

I believe you can also find Doogie Howser, Three's Company, Silk Stockings, and The Greatest American Hero for big discounts from their normal Amazon prices.

Cheap soda

Was at Longs Drugs today.

They have a BOGO sale for Sunkist/7-Up/Canada Dry, and probably A&W 2 liter bottles through 8/20.

$1.49 becomes $1.89 after all is said and done. If you're looking at throwing a party in the near future (ahem, WS?), good time to load up. =)

More frozen sweets

If you're a Ben & Jerry's fan, you can find their ice cream on sale this weekend for $2 a pint at Albertson's. Good through Sunday.

Also noticed that Walmart has Gatorade on sale for $1.67 per 64 oz bottle, or $0.97 per 32 oz bottle.

Klondike Rush!

Well, actually not sure if this is a great deal or not, but I went to the local Safeway today and what did I see on sale? Klondike bars. 2 for $7 (down from $5.99 I believe). What timing for Cho. They go on sale and he leaves the country. Not to worry, they should be good through next Tuesday.

Making money

Today I headed over to the local Rite Aid where they had a whole bunch of FAR (free after rebate) items. The list included GE 2 pack longlasting light bulbs, Adidas body wash or deodorant, 2 gum toothbrushes, some generic earbuds.

Usually rebates are a pain. You still have to waste your time and money finding a stamp to mail them in. Rite Aid (and Staples, I believe) has made it easy for you by letting you submit your receipt online.

So today I picked up 2 GUM toothbrushes and 1 Adidas deodorant. Now these aren't exactly free as you still have to pay tax on the pre-rebate price, but here's the way to actually make money. Sunday coupons! From sometime in the past few weeks I cut out an Adidas deodorant coupon. $0.75 off one item. With the adidas item costing $3.99 pre-tax, so after rebate it would be: $3.99*108.25%-$3.99 ~ 33 cents.
$0.75 - $0.33 = +$0.42! Woo! That truly is the answer to everything.

Anyway, if you're ever in a RiteAid on a Sunday, pick up the weekly circular and check for any free after online rebate deals. Maybe you can stock up on some light bulbs. I say Sunday because it seems like there are a ton of hawks out there. The light bulbs that were on sale...were already sold out when I got to a riteaid around 1PM today. Bah.

Random items

So why Irish Spring (which I just bought another 3 bars of yesterday at Rite Aid)? There's a fun review of it here

Looks like my new lappy is on its way! Was afraid there'd be a backorder, but I've already gotten a tracking number. Just picked up from Hong Kong! (my next fear is that it gets held up in customs...which apparently happens quite often).

10 for $10

If you've ever read the Albertson's circular, you've probably seen the 10 for $10 sale page, where they offer up some potential deals at the rate of $1 per item. In fact, you do not need to buy 10 items to satisfy the sale. Just think of it as $1 per item, and buy however many you want. This pretty much applies to all stores. If they really mean 10 for $10, they'll usually have a note that says, "Must buy 10".

So this week, some sweet deals include Progresso _Classic_ Soups $1 a pop. I underline Classic because I believe such standards as Clam Chowder are not considered Classic, but rather are considered "Traditional". Classics include things like Tomato Soup. Anyway, still a good deal if you're into their classic line, since they usually exceed $2 easy.

Another deal, and this one's for Tubby and his future roommate challenge. Banquet frozen dinners are on sale at $1 a pop. As he noted a few days ago, on the back of some of these boxes comes a coupon for a free game of bowling. The way his roommate Dave is bowling, he'll need some extra practice.

Cho mentioned that there was a possibly good deal on Pork Spare Ribs. $1.99 a lb. I haven't quite figured out the meat prices, but that doesn't seem too bad. I forgot which store this was though.

Done Deal

I've purchased a Thinkpad. Went with the X32. Chose ultraportability over screen size and optical drive. Now the long wait begins. Not supposed to ship til 8/19.

So the question for me...
Is this the beginning of another spending splurge? Or is this it? (along with the Eastbay order that Wally suckered me into).

Counter to my frugal ways, I've definitely been known to splurge (of course with the caveat that it's splurging on sales).

Usually the splurging isn't until Christmas time. Witness the Gamecube purchase along with the 5 pairs of sneakers/cleats purchase along with a bunch of presents along with Gamecube accessories that were bought a couple winters ago.

Or last winter when I splurged on random house furnishings.

I don't think I have anything else on my plate that I need to get, but at the same time, BIG sales can sometimes create the need. =)

Today is grocery store circular day. What goodies will be in store?

Irish Spring sale

3 pack for $0.99 at RiteAid this week (with in-store ad coupon). Just pick up the ad at the front entrance and use it to buy a 3 pack of soap. This is usually the best deal you can get without other coupons...though Amazon once had them for the same price without tax. Ah, the good ol' days.
