Airline gift cards @ Safeway

I was at Safeway last night when I decided to see what sort of Gift Cards they had these days (OK, I was really there because I needed to get another Jamba Juice Gift Card).

I noticed that Safeway now sells Hawaiian, JetBlue, and Southwest Airlines Gift Cards ($100 at a time).

Well, if you know you're going to be flying one of those airlines in the next few days and you have the Grocery store 5% discount on your credit card. Looks like there's now another way to save.

If you buy these in California, they will never expire. (unless you run into a magnet)

Edit: Longs Drugs has a $5 off $100 coupon in their weekly circular for Southwest tickets. If you have this year's Entertainment Book, there's another $5 off $25 Longs Drugs purchase in there.

That then becomes:
$100 - $5 (weekly) - $5 (Ent) - ($4.5) = $85.50. Not too shabby.
However, note that any insurance that you might have gotten by paying with your credit card is now forfeit, since most cards require the entire amount to be paid by said card.
